Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
Wind gusts up to 70 mph and 1 inch in diameter hail is possible with these storms.

There is an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms over portions of Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana.

There is a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms for all locations in yellow and a Marginal Risk for locations in Dark Green.

Michigan Trip 2019

Here is a picture of me admiring the water in Saint Joseph upon arrival as this was my very first time at the lake.

I just couldn't believe how beautiful the water is and how it truly does resemble Silver which is how it got it's name Silver Beach.

On August 11th-13th I decided to take a trip to Saint Joseph, Silver Beach/Park, and Tiscornia Park in Michigan. Here is me taking pictures in front of the Welcome and Thank You sign.

Atlantic Cyclone Potential

We are starting to focus our attention on the #2 tropical disturbance in the Atlantic.

The following is from the National Hurricane Center.

2. A broad low pressure system located about 1000 miles west-southwest
of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to produce a large area of
disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Only gradual development of
this system is expected for the next day or so while it moves
west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. Environmental conditions could
become more supportive by Saturday and a tropical depression is
likely to form over the weekend, several hundred miles east of the
Lesser Antilles.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

Marginal Risk for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning are the main hazards in Kentucky. There is a low tornado threat for locations in yellow (KS,MO).

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM EDT /1 PM CDT/
THURSDAY TO 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ SUNDAY...

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued an
Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM EDT /1 PM
CDT/ Thursday to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Sunday. The Excessive Heat
Watch is no longer in effect.

* TEMPERATURE...Heat indices ranging from 100 to as high as 110
  degrees will be possible each afternoon from Thursday into
  Sunday, with the highest heat indices along and west of I-65.

* IMPACTS...Several days of heat indices near or above 105
  degrees could have a cumulative impact on some individuals,
  especially those who engage in prolonged outdoor work or other
  activities. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures
  in a matter of minutes. Never leave pets, children, or the
  elderly unattended in parked vehicles. The extended period of
  high heat and humidity can worsen the effects of heat stress.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions...if you work or spend time outside. When
possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously
hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures
and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in
which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in
an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun... and check up on
relatives and neighbors".

Temperatures will be in the middle 90's with head indices pushing 100-110°. As mentioned by the NWS, Be cautious if you are outside during this time, drink plenty of fluids. Beat the heat, check the backseat for children and pets. Bring in your pets if they live outside for their safety.
